The first german military cemetery in Luxembourg
During the winter of 1944/1945, terrible fighting occurred in the border areas between Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany.
Located in Sandweiler, Luxembourg, this cemetery is the resting place of 10,913 German soldiers who died during the Battle of the Bulge. It was inaugurated in 1955. Before its construction, the graves of the German soldiers were located in the four corners of Luxembourg. Today, they are gathered in this place, testifying to the history of these enemy soldiers.
This cemetery is full of memories and is an obligatory stop on the route of remembrance tourism in the Ardennes. It’s a somber place where one can find poignant emotions.
