The Family of Man exhibition is composed of more than 500 photographs taken by 273 photographers from 68 countries. This touching exhibition has been inspiring visitors to reflect since 1955 about peace and the fundamental equality of men.
This monumental collection of photographs was assembled by Edward Steichen, curator of exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, and his collaborators between 1951 and 1955. It was first exhibited in 1955 at MoMA in New York. After a tour that attracted more than 10 million visitors, the exhibition was finally installed at Château Clervaux.
The objective of this phenomenal project was to convey a message of peace in a world plagued by Cold War tensions. Today, some of these pictures have become true icons in the history of photography.
