They shall not grow old, translated into French as “Pour les soldats tombés” is a documentary film directed by New Zealander Peter Jackson on the occasion of the centenary of the First World War in 2018. Made from authentic colorized images and punctuated by numerous testimonies of veterans, Peter Jackson’s film has been universally recognized for its intensity and its willingness to immerse the viewer in the daily lives of fighting soldiers. Even if some historians have expressed their disagreement with the editing, denouncing a “manipulation of images,” this documentary remains a reference in war reporting.
