This collection gathers about a hundred short texts written by engaging writers of the twentieth century. All the writings are related to the First World War, whether in the form of testimonies or fiction. The choice of texts was made under the direction of Antoine Compagnon, Professor at the Collège de France. He has invited Italian, English, German, French, American, and Russian authors. The term “anthology” is well chosen because novels, poems, press articles, and correspondence are mixed together without one having the preponderance over the others.
