La vie et rien d
Bertrand Tavernier

Released in 1989, La vie et rien d’autre or Life and Nothing But is a French film about two very different women who unknowingly search for the same man at the end of World War I. The film deals with the theme of the Unknown Soldier and blind obedience to the military hierarchy. It has been recognized in France and around the world, winning the 1990 BAFTA for Best Foreign Language Film. Addressing an era often overlooked by directors, Bertrand Tavernier paints a tragic portrait of post-war France.
