The First World War involved millions of soldiers across Europe, resulting in violent and bloody battles. However, we often forget that many women were also thrust into the conflict, from the front lines and beyond- all sharing in the war effort. Some manufactured ammunition in warehouses, while others worked alongside soldiers at the front to provide them with first aid. A special itinerary has been created in the Land of Memory territory to understand the unique role of women during the war.
Their contributions to the conflicts can also be discovered in our podcast’s second episode. Again, we dive into these women’s lives, from Marie Curie in the trenches of the Great War to Augusta Chiwy during the Siege of Bastogne in 1944.
