On May 10, 1940, a new German invasion surprised the Belgian population of the Ardennes and the Gaume. The inhabitants remembered the atrocities they experienced at the beginning of 1914 and fled in fear. It began the exodus of thousands of Belgians to France. Jean-Pierre Echterbille novelizes this dramatic episode of the Second World War by taking inspiration from the stories of his mother and grandmother.
